I'm freaking in shock!
I've been taking a writing class, it was an early b-day present from my parents. This past Tuesday was the last night for it. As we were walking out, my teacher pulled me aside;
"I think you have real talent, I would like to offer you private lessons. Would you be interested?"
I was kinda at a loss for words. You know how we artists are always our own worse critiques, our own worse enemies. Yeah, well, I'm no different. I am very critical of my own work and I know I'll probably get virtually slapped for typing this, but I think most of my stuff is horrible. Yes, both friends and family have told me my stuff is awesome and that I'm a talented writer, but that's family and friends. Not to say I think they're lying, but of course they're gonna say something like that. Its totally different when an outside source says that to you. And OMFG!!! Private lessons!?!?!?! I'm still kinda reeling from that. I'm just all kinds of shocked, excited, nervous, and whatever.
She says she doesn't offer private lessons to everyone, just a select few. (Of course my boss thinks she's just trying to take as much of my money as she can and that I can't possibly be that talented. That, and she's trying to steal my story ideas.)
She's had a couple of books published, childrens' books mostly, and numerous magazine articles, most for Readers Digest.
I'm going for it. My lessons start this coming Wednesday. (Were suppose to start this past Weds, but the crappy weather killed that.) Wish me luck.

You were like a bird in a cage spreading its wings to fly
"The old ways are lost," you sang as you flew
And I wondered why.

The thundering waves are calling me home to you
The pounding sea is calling me home unto you
